SUKO has customized metal braided PTFE corrugated hoses with antistatic liners for customers in Russia, Türkiye, India and other countries, for aviation refueling applications.

These projects bring together three requirements: a fuel-compatible internal flow path, reinforcement for the specified operating pressure, and a conductive liner that supports static dissipation through the connected assembly.

The starting point is the customer’s system—not simply a hose diameter. Routing, fittings, operating conditions and electrical requirements determine the configuration to be reviewed.

The Customer Requirement: A Conductive Fuel-Transfer Path

Standard PTFE and conductive PTFE serve different purposes in a hose.

PTFE, or polytetrafluoroethylene, is a fluoropolymer valued for chemical resistance, temperature resistance and a low-friction surface. Standard PTFE is electrically insulating. When the application requires static dissipation, the inner tube needs a suitable conductive formulation.

For the aviation refueling projects described here, customers requested antistatic liners inside metal braided corrugated hoses.

The liner provides the internal conductive path. The metal braid reinforces the hose. These functions are complementary: adding an external metal braid does not turn an ordinary PTFE liner into an antistatic one.

The Connection Matters as Much as the Liner

A conductive inner tube needs an effective connection to the intended grounding path.

This makes the hose ends an important part of the design review. Fitting geometry, attachment method and electrical contact must be considered together so that the assembled hose can meet the specified continuity requirements.

For a new project, the customer should define the target electrical performance and test method. This gives the hose and fitting configuration a measurable requirement to meet.

Turning Installation Details into a Custom Configuration

A hose that fits the equipment must do more than connect two ports. Its length and routing need to accommodate the available space without forcing the assembly into an unsuitable bend.

Drawings and samples help establish:

  • The distance and orientation between connection points.
  • Required hose length and straight-end sections.
  • Fitting dimensions and connection type.
  • Available bending space.
  • Whether the hose remains stationary or experiences movement and vibration.

The corrugated PTFE tube provides routing flexibility, while the metal braid supplies reinforcement. The final geometry must match the installation rather than relying on flexibility alone.

Pressure and Temperature Must Be Reviewed Together

The required operating pressure should be stated alongside the fuel temperature, pressure changes and any vacuum conditions.

A room-temperature pressure value cannot automatically be carried over to elevated-temperature service. The selected fittings and assembly method also affect the finished hose rating.

For this reason, SUKO reviews the intended service conditions before proposing a configuration. General product data can support the initial discussion, but the project specification defines what the completed assembly must achieve.

Our Experience in International Custom Projects

The projects for customers in Russia, Türkiye and India involved customized antistatic-lined metal braided PTFE corrugated hoses for aviation refueling.

They illustrate a recurring need: combining the right liner with a workable installation and connection arrangement. The country of use does not determine the hose specification; the customer’s equipment and operating requirements do.

Customer-specific dimensions and project data are not published here. These supply references describe our application experience, while approval and qualification requirements remain specific to each project.

What Can Be Customized?

Depending on the application, the configuration can be reviewed for:

  • Hose diameter and finished length.
  • Inner-tube dimensions and corrugation profile.
  • Conductive liner requirements.
  • Metal braid specification.
  • End connections and straight sections.
  • External protective covering.
  • Electrical inspection and other agreed tests.

The same approach can be applied to other fuel, solvent and chemical-transfer projects requiring static control. Each medium and operating environment should be assessed on its own requirements.

Start with Your Target Requirements

For an initial review, send SUKO the following:

Fluid: Fuel or chemical specification and relevant exposure conditions.

Operating conditions: Temperature, working pressure, pressure changes and vacuum requirements.

Assembly: Drawing, hose length, connection details and installation space.

Static control: Electrical performance, test method and grounding arrangement.

Project needs: Quantity, inspection requirements and applicable qualification criteria.

This information allows us to discuss a custom hose configuration with a clear purpose and defined acceptance requirements.

Beyond hose assemblies, SUKO also supports custom PTFE parts, other PTFE products and modified PTFE components based on drawings or samples.
